The PCS Team

The PCS team is led by Managing Director - Terry Hanton, ACA and the PCS team includes accountants, quantity surveyors, project managers, valuers, and real estate consultants. A core strength of PCS is its multidisciplinary talent pool with extensive experience in working on projects of varying sizes and disciplines.

Terry Hanton – Managing Director

Terry Hanton

Terry Hanton is a Chartered Accountant who specialises in consultancy services to the real estate and hospitality sectors. He is also a member and accredited valuer of the Barbados Estate Agents & Valuers Association and previously held the position of Vice-President of this Organisation. From 1984 to 1996 he was the Finance Director of St. James Beach Hotels Plc., a Barbados based hotel group that traded on the London and Barbados exchanges. In addition to his role at Property Consultancy Services Inc., he is the Director of Sales of Altman Real Estate.

From 1998 to 2007 he was Project Director of the Sugar Hill Development which is a resort community located in Barbados, owned by David Lloyd and a syndicate of investors. The project consisted of 100 homes on 52 acres overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The investors are non-executive and Mr. Hanton was responsible for executing the project in its entirety. He is also the Director on of several property development companies. He has conducted feasibility studies, market research projects and business valuations and has also provided project management, and property investment advice and financial and accounting services to a broad range of clients. Current projects being managed by Mr. Hanton include Limegrove, Villas on the Green and Rockley.

 

Marie-Jeanne Symmonds - Finance Manager

Marie-Jeanne Symmonds

Marie-Jeanne Symmonds is a Chartered Accountant, with over 10 years post qualification experience in the Caribbean. She has worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in St. Lucia and Barbados between the years of 1992 and 1996.
Her client base was extremely diversified and included hospitality companies such as Club St. Lucia and the Sandy Lane Hotel. She specialised in Computerised Information System Audits. During 1997 and 1998 she was the Group Financial Controller for the St. James Beach Hotels PLC and from 1999 to 2000 she freelanced working for periods of 4 months to 1 year at C.I.B.C. West Indies, Bico Ltd., and Villa Nova Hotel.
In 2001 Mrs. Symmonds joined Property Consultancy Services Inc. as the Finance Manager and has been involved in financial management of all our major clients, including the Sugar Hill development. Her responsibilities include budgeting & financial modelling, investment advice and due diligence, business plan preparation, feasibility studies, procurement of finance as well as project management.

 

Tania Wardle – Real Estate Consultant

Tania Waddle

Tania Wardle is the senior real estate consultant at Property Consultancy Services Inc. Prior to joining PCS, she was a Commercial Portfolio Analyst at The Bank of Nova Scotia, handling the supporting financial analysis and risk assessment, the development of financing proposals and new credit applications, account monitoring and client management for a number of real estate and other clients. Ms. Wardle’s experience currently extends into valuations, business plan preparation, project financing, feasibility studies, market research studies, and strategic planning. Trained in Canada, she holds a BA, Honours Business Administration (HBA) from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She is also currently pursuing the AACI designation with the Appraisal Institute of Canada.

 

Chris Basford - Construction Manager

Chris Basford has been involved in the management of construction for 20 years. Mr. Basford holds a BSc and was educated and trained in the U.K. He started working for main and management contractors in the Trafalgar House group in London. Moving to the Caribbean he worked for contractors in Barbados, St. Lucia and Trinidad.

As client’s construction manager he worked on the Sugar Hill development from 1998 until 2003. Mr. Basford’s time is currently dedicated to the Limegrove project from conceptualization to completion. His responsibilities include supervision of construction professionals, site supervision, budgetary control as well as the day to day management of the project.

Charles Doggett - Project Manager/Quantity Surveyor

Charles Doggett is a Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager who has worked on a wide variety of construction projects in the U.K., the Middle East, Spain and the Caribbean. From 1976 to 1984 he was based in Egypt representing WT Partnership on several major hotel developments before returning to the U.K. where he was made an Associate Director. He held that position until 1990 working on several prestigious commercial developments in London in addition to residential resort developments in Majorca, Southern Spain and the Bahamas.

Since coming to Barbados in 1990 he has worked on the refurbishment of several hotels and has spent a year working in St. Thomas, U. S. V. I. and was the Development Manager for the initial development of Royal Westmoreland Golf Resort. He is currently the Quantity Surveyor for Limegrove and supports our valuations team.

Marvin Beckles – Commercial Property Manager

Marvin Beckles has worked in many areas of the construction and maintenance industry for more that 15 years. He has been involved in commercial property management since 2001, managing over 100,000 square feet of office and retail space. Prior to that, he was the Facilities Manager for a large international company where his responsibilities included that of building, plant and equipment and safety. He is a qualified architectural draughtsman having worked on major projects such as the South Coast Sewage Project for the Barbados Water Authority and Price Smart buildings in Barbados and Jamaica. Mr. Beckles possesses extensive knowledge of construction, building design and building maintenance and has recently been accepted to the University of Reading to pursue a BSc. in Estate Management.
