Paul B Altman (LLD)

Paul Bernard Altman has been involved in the Real Estate profession for over 30 years. He is the Managing Director of Altman Real Estate (Christies Exclusive Affiliate) the Caribbean’s leading real estate company. He has been at the forefront of developments in the luxury residential market, and was among those instrumental in the establishment of the highly successful Royal Westmoreland golf residential community. He led the development of the Sugar Hill Resort and helped to set the tone for Resort Developments in Barbados. Presently he is leading the development of the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre- Barbados’ first mixed use development which will comprise of 100 boutiques and restaurants, a nightclub and cinemas when it opens in the winter of 2010-2011. Paul Altman serves as a Director of a number of listed Barbadian and offshore companies. In 2010, he was selected to serve a three year term as the Chairman of the Campus Council at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus. He was presented with the UWI Caribbean Luminary Award in January, 2008 and inducted into The University of the West Indies Chancellor’s Circle in July, 2008. Mr. Altman is involved in urban renewal programs in Speightstown, Holetown and in Bridgetown. He is Past President of the Barbados National Trust and Chairman of the Barbados Community Foundation, a private charity. He recently completed the development of two museums which are both linked to the Barbados National Trust, the Nidhe Israel Museum in Bridgetown and Arlington Museum in Speightstown. Mr. Altman was awarded the Gold Crown of Merit in recognition of his contribution to the development of tourism and preservation of the heritage of Barbados in 2007 and was honored by the Government with a Centennial Honor in 2000. He is also a Justice of the Peace. Educated at Harrison College, Mr. Altman holds a BBA Degree from the University of Miami and was honored by the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree conferred in 2009. Paul Bernard Altman is married to Rachelle and they are the parents of two daughters Rina and Abigail.

Melanie King

Melanie King is a Shareholder and a Director of Altman Real Estate and an established member of the Altman team. She embarked on her career in the early 1980s when the company was known as Alleyne and Aguilar. She began working in the reservations department, assisting clients with finding villa accommodation for their holidays. After a few years she transitioned to the company’s sales team. Over time Melanie has been involved with numerous aspects of the real estate industry, including serving as President of the Barbados Estate Agents and Valuers Association (BEAVA) for two terms. In addition to her role as a Director, Melanie is also a Real Estate Agent and provides an interior design service for clients in Barbados and, most recently, St. Lucia. Born in Barbados and educated in the United Kingdom, she shares her St. James home with her husband, her two Golden Retrievers and, when he takes a break from his studies in London, her son Alexander.

Melanie King - Real Estate Agent

Melanie King is a Shareholder and a Director of Altman Real Estate and an established member of the Altman team. She embarked on her career in the early 1980s when the company was known as Alleyne and Aguilar. After a few years in the company’s reservations department, she transitioned to the sales team, becoming the first woman to do so at a time when the industry was dominated by men. Over the past 30 years in the industry she has worked alongside such developments as the Sandy Lane Estate, the Port St. Charles Marina, the Sugar Hill Resort and, more recently, the Apes Hill Club and the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre. Melanie served as President of the Barbados Estate Agents and Valuers Association (BEAVA) for two terms. In addition to her role as a Sales Agent, Melanie provides an interior design service for clients in Barbados and, most recently, St. Lucia. Well-travelled, and an animal lover, one of the highlights of Melanie’s trips was going on an African Safari with her family.

Michelle Maynard - Real Estate Agent

Before joining Altman Real Estate, Michelle Maynard worked in sales at Royal Westmoreland. She joined Altman in 1999 and served as the company’s Marketing Manager for over four years. This role grew and evolved into a sales position, with Michelle becoming a full time Real Estate Agent in 2004. A fitness enthusiast, Michelle enjoys staying in shape, believing that a clear mind and a healthy body are important for all aspects of life.

Rosalind Crane - Real Estate Agent

Rosalind Crane worked in the Barbados hotel industry for a number of years, serving as Executive Director of the Barbados Hotel Association, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Elegant Resorts of Barbados Group and General Manager of Settlers Beach Hotel. She left Settlers Beach after eleven years and joined the Altman sales team in 2007 as a Real Estate Agent. Rosalind is based out of the company’s South Coast office in Worthing. She has travelled widely and enjoys meeting and interacting with people.

Pooka Yhap - Real Estate Agent

Educated in Barbados and the United Kingdom, Pooka Yhap began her career in the insurance industry – dedicating 25 years of service. She then joined Altman Real Estate in 2003, initially working in sales administration and event planning. In 2007 Pooka was given the opportunity to join the Altman’s sales team and became a Real Estate Agent. She is the President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), an organization she has been dedicated to for many years, and has a special love for music and dancing. Pooka is also an avid gardener.

Juliet White - Sales Administrator

Juliet White became part of the Altman family in April 2006 after having worked at reputable companies throughout the hospitality and wholesale sectors, such as the Sandy Lane Hotel. Always interested in trying new things, Juliet has worked in a variety of areas - from accounting to concierge services. This interest saw her move from an Administrative Assistant position at Altman Real Estate to take on the role of Sales Administrator in 2007. When not assisting the sales team and their clients, Juliet enjoys working in her garden.
